GOODNIGHT, AUGUST

WESTERN GOTHIC

Synopsis: After awakening in a surreal landscape trapped between memory and nightmare, a former preacher must confront the darkness of his past before it consumes him.

BEHIND THE SCENES

This behind-the-scenes video is a collection of raw moments from production. I hope it offers an honest look at the filmmaking process and the people who helped bring this proof of concept to life.

I resonate deeply with the timeless beauty of classic Westerns, and I’m madly in love with the haunting imagery of surrealist black and white cinema. Goodnight, August grew from a desire to bring those influences together, and to create a world where Southern mythology, dream logic, and spiritual themes exist side by side.

As an expressionistic filmmaker, I'm less interested in recreating reality than revealing the emotional and spiritual truths beneath it. I love building immersive worlds that feel both familiar and otherworldly, where memory, symbolism, and the subconscious become as tangible as the physical world we live in. Goodnight, August will always be the world that unexpectedly grew from my own heart and imagination, and I’ll love it forever

What began as a short film has always been part of a much larger vision. Goodnight, August is currently being developed as a limited series, allowing the story's characters, mysteries, and symbolic world to unfold as they were originally imagined. The series will continue to explore the subconscious, spiritual warfare, and the hope of redemption through a richly surreal Southern Gothic landscape.
