Goodnight, AUGUST

Years after a mysterious church fire claims dozens of lives, August begins experiencing dreams that blur the line between memory and reality. Haunted by a nameless figure known only as the “Shadow Man”, he is pulled into the depths of his own subconscious in search of the truth: Who set the church ablaze, and why has the past refused to let him go?

As every revelation uncovers another hidden layer of the past, he must confront not only the mystery of the fire, but the condition of his own soul. Goodnight, August is a surreal, Southern Gothic murder mystery about faith, redemption, and the unseen battle between light and darkness. As the subconscious gives shape to fear, pride, and longing, every path leads deeper into a mystery that cannot be escaped by waking.

a WESTERN gothic

I resonate deeply with the timeless beauty of classic Westerns, and I’m madly in love with the haunting imagery of surrealist black and white cinema. Goodnight, August grew from a desire to bring those influences together, and to create a world where Southern mythology, dream logic, and spiritual themes exist side by side.

As an expressionistic filmmaker, I'm less interested in recreating reality than revealing the emotional and spiritual truths beneath it. I love building immersive worlds that feel both familiar and otherworldly, where memory, symbolism, and the subconscious become as tangible as the physical world we live in. Goodnight, August will always be the world that unexpectedly grew from my own heart and imagination, and I’ll love it forever.
